Long Delays for Veterans with Mail-Order Medications

Veterans that rely on the U.S Postal Service for mail-order medications are experiencing long delays after recent changes made to the service including cutting staff hours and removing high-volume mail-processing machines.

According to an article published by Stars and Stripes, “Changes have also prompted concern among veterans and lawmakers about delays for mail-order prescriptions and other vital VA mail. The VA fills 80 percent of its prescriptions by mail — about 120 million prescriptions per year arriving daily to 330,000 veterans. In a letter Friday, a group of lawmakers…to fix the problem. Disabled American Veterans issued its own call Monday, asking Congress…to immediately fund the Postal Service so veterans could get their VA mail without delay.”
