Total Disability Based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU)
Veterans may qualify for TDIU if they meet the following criteria:
- Have one service-connected disability rated at least 60% or multiple service-connected disabilities with a combined rating of at least 70%.
- Their service-connected conditions preclude a Veteran from securing or following any form of substantial gainful employment.
This benefit may also be awarded on a extraschedular basis (for exceptional cases where the Veteran does not meet the eligibility criteria).
