Persons who are currently receiving Veterans Disability or Social Security Disability benefits have until April 22 to inform the Internal Revenue Service of any children eligible for a $500 stimulus payments in order to receive the payment this year.

According to an article published by Bloomberg.com, “The Internal Revenue Service has repeatedly said that people who get these federal benefits need to submit information to the IRS if they have a dependent child age 16 or under. Monday is the first time the agency said that information must be in by Wednesday.”

No action is needed by adults receiving the above-mentioned benefits to receive the $1,200 stimulus check because the IRS already has their bank details, however, the do not have any details on children who may be eligible for the $500 stimulus check.

According to a press release from the IRS published on April 20, “Their $1,200 payments will be issued soon and, in order to add the $500 per eligible child amount to these payments, the IRS needs the dependent information before the payments are issued…Otherwise, their payment at this time will be $1,200 and, by law, the additional $500 per eligible child amount would be paid in association with a return filing for tax year 2020,”.
